The Advanced 2-Man Umpire Clinic

The Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Umpires (MAC) association is gearing up to host their Advanced 2-Man Umpire Clinic at the end of June. The clinic is an opportunity for umpires to hone their skills and learn the mechanics of working at an advanced collegiate level.

The clinic will be held from June 29 to July 2. It will include classroom instruction at Baymont Inn & Suites as well as field instruction on and around the Ramapo College campus.

History

MAC provides highly trained umpires for baseball at the college level. Training opportunities like clinics are just once facet of what they do, as they also recruit umpires, assign them to positions, and supervise/regulate their conduct.

Training

The clinic will feature training on several different levels. This will prepare umpires for any type of situation they’ll have to call in a baseball game. Topics will include:

• The strike zone

• Communications

• Plate and base work

• Field work and drills

Events

Along with classroom instruction, the clinic will include the opportunity to evaluate live games and to participate in drills on the field. You’ll get both theory as well as practical application in the course of the 4-day training event.
